A reason why I would want to be able to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is because of my grandpa. It would be great to be able to lay the wreath because it would be a great way to thank him for serving the country when it was a choice to fight and not mandatory. It would also be great to lay the wreath to thank all the 58,220 soldiers who died in the Vietnam war, 33,652 soldiers who died in the Korean War, and to thank all those who were missing in action which is why the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is there.
The reason why the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is there is to honor the 3 soldiers who died fighting and could not be identified. The tomb has never been unguarded and even during hurricane Katrina soldiers were still out guarding the tomb. The soldiers barracks are below the tomb. The reason it is very important to respect any branch of our military is because it was a choice for the soldiers to go out and put their lives on the lines in order to keep the country safe. My grandpa was an electrician on the boats in the navy for the Vietnam and Korean War and he said it was quite dangerous because you were sailing over water and could be shelled and electricity and water don't work well together. He also said that if he was not paying attention when fixing things he could have gotten a 120 volt shock. Any other job in the military is very dangerous whether its being the first group to hold off an enemy in heavy gunfire or being the cook for everyone in your
