In the story there is a slave named Jim. Tom tries to switch chores but the slave Jim refuses. He then say “Ih, I dasn’t, Mars Tom. Ole missis she’d take an’ tar de head off’n me. ‘Deed she would.”(Fence 1). This remark is aimed towards slavery. Even in a humoristic way Twain uses the dialect of one of his characters who is a slave to expose how evil slavery is. He thinks by the South having slaves for free labor, beating them, and treating them less than human is an injustice by the South. He uses his humor to expose the injustice of South and slavery. He shows this by using Tom Sawyer predicament of not wanting to his chores and trying to switch with the slave named Jim to do the easier one. He is showing us the injustice so that the future generation and current generation will not do the same mistake that the old generation of the South does. He wants the world to be a better place and by doing so he writes story so that everyone can learn for this and not do the same mistakes. Therefore Twain use of humor showed how the South and slavery is an injustice by using Jim and Tom Sawyer hilarious dialogue to represent this idea so that the other generations will not do the same evil as the old South
