A few characteristics about his personality includes a variety of things. First, Hammond depends on other people to do his work. Hammond doesn’t like to work diligently, and if he didn’t depend fully on his workers, the park might have been a little more prosperous. Hammond is very apathetic, and not a hardworking person. Another trait about this character is that he is very naive and takes the problems in the park very nonchalant. This caused the park to become extremely precarious with many complications since Hammond didn’t think wisely when he brought live dinosaurs to his island. Hammond is oblivious, and continued to mess up many things. He is heedless of all the danger he is creating. The final important trait is that Hammond is very adamant. Hammond causes many things to fail, since he doesn’t want to put the time, money, or effort into doing something that is not important to him. He is passive, and does not want to waste his money on things he does not care about. Here are a few quotes to support this. The first quote is, “There is absolutely no problem with this island” (Crichton). This quote shows that Hammond is negligent of all the danger he is causing and that he does not think that the island is hazardous and can harm people who visit. The second quote is, “But you didn’t want to put money into a storm barrier to protect the pier” (Crichton). This quote shows that Hammond is adamant and didn’t want to waste his time, money, and effort into building a storm barrier to protect the pier, and just wanted to spend his money on building the actual attractions and the dinosaurs. This final quote is, “This is my island. I own it. And nothing is going to stop me from opening Jurassic Park to all of the children of the world. He chuckled. It is easy to fall under the influence of others, especially when one is a child. Mark Twain points this out through the use of his fictional character, Huck, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huck is exposed to two characters, Jim and Tom, who play a huge impact in shaping his perspective of write and wrong. Throughout The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jim helps Huck attain better morals in regards to thievery and ownership; whereas Tom Sawyer serves as an obstacle to Huck’s moral progression. Going back to the title the dinosaur can be a symbol of extinction or bringing the past into the present. However, the author wants the audience to see how the dinosaur means clutching onto big childhood aspirations. Furthermore, hugging it tight and protecting it so it does not become extinct and just something one reads about in the past. The audience can see that black boy holding the gun as if he has no time for dreams and therefore cannot worry about those kinds of thing. In the line where the author writes, “no one kills the black boy.…

“Tom swept his brush daintily back and forth- stepped back to note the effect- added a touch here and there- criticized the effect again- Ben watching every move and getting more and more interested, more and more absorbed.” This excerpt from “The Glorious Whitewasher” by Mark Twain tells the story of a sneaky, young boy who fooled his peers into doing his work and giving him their treasures while he relaxed like a mom at the beach. I will now describe Tom’s inspiration or strategy and explain how this inspiration is central to the theme and plot regarding work vs. play. Tom Sawyer is one clever, young man.…
