Tom Sawyer Dialectical Journal

After witnessing the murder of Dr. Robinson Tom and Huck oath that they will never tell anyone. Tom gets put in a situation that could be life changing. He is stuck in a battle with his conscience and doesn't know if he should tell or not. Even though he doesn’t want to lose a friend he should tell because it will keep him at rest with his conscience, he will save an innocent man, and keep a dangerous man off the street. Keeping at rest with your conscience will help his health tremendously. It will also keep him from worry and stress. It would help him be able to sleep and would keep him from trouble later on down the road. For Tom it may make him the most popular and coolest person in the grade. Tom would have solved a crime and would be repaid way more than what he will get if he doesn’t tell anyone. He would be a hero for saving Muff Potter and would have all the people in town knowing the name of Tom Sawyer for a good reason. Keeping a dangerous man off the streets could save a life not only because he got Muff Potter out of jail, but he could save the next victim of Injun Joe from getting slaughtered. Keeping this man off of the streets would mean a lot to everyone off town because nobody knows who this man is holding grudges against and he could want to kill everyone in town. Sometimes you just never know who or what is going to happen even if you have the never done anything to somebody they may not like you because they don’t like the way you look or talk. Someone may argue that the sheriff may not believe him but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. You never know if he could believe every word you say or not a lick of it until you try. The worst that could happen is he wouldn’t believe you but you still gain off this. You will be free from your conscience if you tell no matter if he believes you or
