2 Knute Rockne
He coached from 1918 to 1930 and amazingly won five national championships. Rockne is credited with creating the forward pass and also introduced the T-formation in the backfield. The mark he made on Notre Dame will go down in history as one of the greatest moments in college football. In 1951 he was named into the College Football Hall of Fame.
3 Tom Osborne
Coaching in Lincoln for a quarter of a century, Osborne highly regarded as the "model of consistency" as he never earned less than nine wins in a season and three national championships. The most popular stat was the way he concluded his career in Nebraska. There's no doubt that Paterno is one of the greatest in the sport because he is only one of just three active who have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

He has his place among the greatest coaches of all time because of his numerous accomplishments and longevity with the Florida State Seminoles. Bowden's 14 consecutive seasons from 1987 to 2000 of top four postseason finishes, is something no coach in history will ever achieve in their lives. Bowden won two national championships, 9 conference championships and an untouchable and unforgettable 152-19-1 (88%)
