After Rocha left the band the remaining members started collaborating with Chris Cornell. The new group was called Audioslave. The band released their first album in 2002. Their second album Out of Exile reached number 1 position on the Billboard chart. In 2003 he formed his first solo band The Nightwatchman and started playing folk music.
In 2006 Morello alongside Boots Riley created a band named Street Sweeper Social club. He appeared in many films like Sounds Like a Revolution, Iron Maiden and a documentary Let Fury Have the Hour. He wrote the comic series Orchid. It was illustrated by Scott Hepburn.
