This project will be based on Tom Lee “the bronze statue” that depicts a black man reaching out to save a helpless drowning white man from a steamboat wreck, the M. E. Norman. The statue is located on Riverside Dr. west of downtown Memphis overlooking the Mississippi River “The Tom Lee Park”.
I proposed to introduce and offer a different view of Tom Lee’s jester of an outreach hand. In spite of Memphis daily broadcast of killing in the news, show how Memphian offers a life line. Elaborate on how the city has evolved through programs that reaches out to help others through non profit organization and health facilities. Present some notation on the history of Memphis, but the majority of the information will offer the audience a more indebt option of what the statue could mean to them. Suggest upon the next visit to the park to view the statue in a different light.
The statue displays more than a helping hand, it speaks of courage and concern for a fellow man, and “rarely will a man lay down his life for another”. Reflect on my view of the significate attributes of the extended hand, and focus on the intent of Tom Lee’s heart, and show how Memphian has exemplify some of these same characteristic. …show more content…

I thought this would be the perfect project so I turned into the Park, walked around, and read the information and decided this would be a perfect example of a paradox. Reflecting thoughts came to mind of all the things Memphians do to help
