Tom Brady Case Analysis

Have you ever thought about an NFL that never applied discipline? Tom Brady was allegedly deflating footballs in the 2014-2015 AFC Championship against the Indianapolis Colts, but was never punished. Although it is not fully proven, there is plenty of evidence that Tom Brady has violated the integrity of the game multiple times, therefore, Tom Brady should be harshly punished. The NFL and people everywhere have been way too easy on Tom Brady. One good example is how the federal court nullified Brady’s 4-game suspension to start the 2015 season (1). Yes, Brady is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer and is a star in today’s game, but Brady has allegedly cheated multiple times and has yet to be punished. From 2000 to 2007, the Patriots were caught spying and Brady had at least general awareness of the inside activities of the organization and was not punished. In conclusion, the NFL needs to punish Brady with force. …show more content…
This should prove his guilt. The NFL asked to see Brady’s phone multiple times (1). This particular phone Brady had during the AFC Championship game (1). Brady claims his attorney ordered the phone be destroyed (1). This is destruction of evidence and is wrong. To conclude, if this doesn’t show that Brady is guilty, who knows what would. The Patriots organization was also punished, but it did not harm them enough. The organization was fined one-million dollars, but considering their owner is a multi-millionaire, I imagine they’ll be fine (1). Also, they lost two draft picks in the upcoming draft (1). But the organization is has more than enough talent for this to hurt them (4). Finally, the organization is in great shape and the NFL should realize that they didn’t come down on the Patriots anywhere near as hard as they should

An incentive-based program for injuring players does not belong in the NFL. It is bad for the brand and bad for the people who play the game, which is far bigger than one coach or one team or one season (Darlington, 2012, pg. 1). Through the scandal there were many suspensions and penalties that were put in place to reprimand the franchise for its actions. Head Coach Sean Payton received a one-year suspension while General Manager Mickey Loomis was only suspended for eight games. Assistant Head Coach Joe Witt received a six game suspension and Defensive Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely from the team.…

Did you know that Vernon Davis of the Redskins, who had just scored a Touchdown, was penalized when he mimicked a basketball player and shot the Football through the uprights of a Goal Post against the Eagles. Refs called nine penalizes for celebrating last season. Another Penalty for celebrating is Bashaud Breeland began to twerk in the Touchdown, He got fined 12,154 I think that athletes shouldn't be punished for celebrating. One reason that Athletes should not be punished for celebrating is because it makes the game Hype for the Players and the Crowd. For example, When the players do their touchdown dance they are trying to make everyone cheer and it helps the players get hyped and ready for the game.…

The NFL needs to improve on how team doctors are evaluating players after injury along with stopping the bribing of players with money. The NFL should also continue its research on concussions and brain/head complications later in life to see how much they are connected. I believe the NFL needs to take charge and implement new policies that can help prevent concussions and gruesome injuries to players. In the future the NFL could make practices safer by eliminating contact drills. They could also reevaluate techniques of tackling and blocking, and rules governing the game.…

In 2014 the NFL was once again the center of scrutiny as one of the most popular and talented running backs in NFL history was indicted on charges of child abuse after a family physician reported the injuries to child protective services. Adrian Peterson admitted hitting his son with a switch, or tree branch, however, Peterson denied that his actions were abuse and insisted he was merely disciplining his son. Although Peterson did not attempt to hide the injuries and was truthful about the incident when questioned, his guilt in committing an act which is harmful to a child is obvious as seen by photos of injuries on the child 's back, legs, buttocks, and scrotum. The punishment executed by Adrian Peterson on his four year old son was not appropriate…

In the 2015 AFC Championship, the New England Patriots went on to battle the Indianapolis Colts, to win the conference championship, and would go on to win the super bowl. We are the ones who support the NFL and consume to keep its business running. That being said if we technically have all the power then why is it so hard for us to stop the negligence? In the CBS article which discusses “How Can NFL Fans Not Feel Guilty In Light Of Brain Disease Revelations,” Ryan emphasizes that the first problem that many football fans share is that we see football only as entertainment and nothing more. “It’s easy to forget that behind the facemasks are real people with real families, with children who need functional fathers.” (Ryan Chatelain, CBS)…

The NFL states that they provide benefits: in joint replacement, long-term care insurance, life insurance programs, prescriptions benefits, neurological evaluations and spine treatment programs, assisted living partnerships, and a Medicare program. The NFL claims that their partnership they have with the NFLPA has spent over a billion dollars on all of these benefits. The NFL is looking into whether previous injuries and lifestyle of the litigants have anything to do with the injuries. If the NFL had lost that case it could have end up paying over $500,000 for each individual player, which could end up in over $10 billion total. Because the NFL brings in an average of 9 billion dollars a year this would have be crippling to the league’s profit (Feeley).…
