Tom Brady: A Well-Known Football Player

In today's history many people have watched or gown up watching Tom Brady play for the Patriots and wanted to be like him. As an athlete Tom Brady become a superstar, but he has also been accused of cheating and was suspended for it in 2016. Tom Brady is a very well known football player because of going from such a low draft pick to an NFL(National Football League) great by breaking and setting records. Finally, Tom Brady has become one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, has had a significant impact on today's history because he overcame suspension and injury, and he went from being a 6th round draft pick and little known college player to a starting superstar.

While in his first season as a starter Tom Brady led his team to Super Bowl XXXVI(36) and upset the St. Louis Rams to win his first ever Super Bowl ring. In the season of 2007 Tom Brady led the Patriots to Super Bowl XLII(42) with a perfect regular season record of 16-0, but they had their dreams crushed by the New York Giants by losing Brady's first Super Bowl(“Tom Brady”). This year Tom became the first quarterback ever to win five Super Bowls and out of those five wins he was MVP for four of them. Throughout the course of his career he has led his team to seven Super Bowls and winning five and losing two of them(Wilner). With the 34-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI(51) he made history by going to the first ever overtime in a Super Bowl, coming back from a twenty-five point deficit which is the greatest comeback in the Super Bowl, and he was won an astonishing total of twenty-five postseason games. On the opening week of the 2008 season Tom Brady was carted of the field due to a season ending knee injury that many people did not think he would be able to recover from. After going down with a knee injury in the previous season he returned and showed that he was not going to let the injury from last year to hold him back that year by making the Pro Bowl and getting his team to the playoffs (“Tom Brady”). After winning the 2015 AFC(American Football Conference) championship game Brady was accused of deflating the game balls and if found guilty Tom Brady would be suspended for four games without practicing in Gillette Stadium. This scandal of deflating the balls was known as Deflategate and was even brought up to the Supreme Court by the NFL’s lawyers and commissioner to have Brady suspended(Daniels). The talk of Deflategate went on for five-hundred fourty days after first being repealed by Tom in the summer of 2016, but his four game suspension was later reinstated without being allowed to repeal his suspension again. As a result of being suspended Tom Brady missed the first four games of the 2016-2017 season but was still able to take his team to the Super Bowl and become the first quarterback to win five Super Bowl
