“But he who dares not grasp the thorn should never crave the rose” this was written by an English poet by the name Anne Bronte, this can be interpreted to mean that you can not be rewarded with beautiful things if you do not suffer through the pain that comes with it, but when will people realize that some things are just not worth it? In our daily lives, we are exposed to numerous chemicals, both good and bad, so, We are often oblivious to what we allow our bodies to endure. One chemical, known as Toluene or Methylbenzene and toluene, is a clear, colorless liquid that is commonly used for manufacturing of other chemicals and is used as a solvent (CCOHS). Sometimes, employees are not given a voice in their workplace no matter how hazardous the conditions are, but that does not mean that they have to accept it. Employees can ensure their safety by wearing masks when toluene is present and by keeping windows and/or doors open to decrease the circulation in the air (Safe Cosmetics). These may seem like small solutions, but in the end, it is one step closer towards keeping yourself out of harm's way which is an incentive.
After researching toluene, there was a spark of curiosity. There has never been a real reason to look further into what is inside nail polish or nail polish remover because it was just an unspoken rule that those things should not be consumed because they are dangerous. Now I know that the product itself is not necessarily dangerous, but the chemicals that we do not take the time to learn about are. Having a serious medical condition, (asthma) is something that I can relate to and I would not want anyone to risk their health because they were unaware of what what being used near or on
