“....What?” His voice was barely a whisper now, he could barely talk.

“It’s nothing, Ichimatsu-niisan. How are you feeling?”

“Please don’t make him talk.” Karamatsu seemed to be tearing up again, “He can barel--”

Standing on the curb, Veronica pulled her jacket tighter against the breeze, and exhaled the slightest bit when the charger came into view. Through the car’s heavy tint, she couldn’t see the driver exactly, but the effortlessly smug look from the driver’s seat when she climbed in was instantly familiar. Hands at her sides, feeling the seat’s leather as he peeled away from the curb, Veronica had to miss the bike, a little. Sure, the threat of death rang less imminent, even in the seat termed ‘shotgun,’ but oddly enough, sharing a console felt more intimate than the physical proximity of sharing the motorcycle. “Are you gonna tell me what this is about?”…

The period began when the Emperor, Emperor Kammu, moved the capital of Japan from Nara to Heian-Kyō (now known as Kyoto) after Buddhist monasteries became oppressive. The Heian period is also known for the Fujiwara Clan. During the Heian period, the emperor lost most of his power and became more of a representative to Japan letting aforementioned Fujiwara Clan gain said power. They were a select family of aristocrats who lived close to the imperial family and essentially held the strings of the emperor like a puppeteer.…

The long June nightfall blurred into night. Dublin lay wrapped in haziness yet for the diminish light of the moon that shone through warm mists, giving a pale light a role as of moving toward sunrise over the avenues and the dull waters of the Liffey. Around the ambushed Four Courts the overwhelming weapons thundered. All over through the city, assault rifles and rifles ended the hush of the night, uncontrollably, similar to pooches yapping on solitary ranches. SStepping out of the carriage, both men stretched, hoping that particular action would alleviate their aching muscles, a direct result from their jarring ride, and said their goodnights, although almost daylight, to go their separate ways. Entering the manor, Nightburn hurried to the north wing library, opened the door, and went directly to the bookcase, easily finding the book and opening it to the page, read the passage aloud, “The power of Vilgoth is necessary. Destroy all those who would oppose Vilgoth’s will.” The bookcase opened as a result and he stepped into the passage leading to the portal below, making certain to close the panel behind and running down the stairs to step into the luminous central portal and out at the military…
