The age group I chose is toddlers, 16-36 months. I selected toddlers because they are full of wonder, desire and their need to know more impresses me. During this stage, toddlers are beginning to explore and use the environment around them to expand on their developments. These are the years were children start to form their personalities and growth. Toddlers are questioning everything around them and exploring the unknown. They are so full of joy and are able to offer such creative discoveries.
Social Development
Toddlers begin to explore their social development by using more communication. Toddlers social development is more complex than infants. Children start to understand the meaning of friends and mimic behavior of others. On page 67, it states how children start to engage in group activities such as follow the leader. They start to choose friends based on like interests and grow to expand on those friendships by playing different activities together. “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Marin, Jr., and Eric Carle would be the story that the toddlers would enjoy and also would be a good story for sequencing. After I am done reading the story to the children, I will have laminated pictures from the story that the children are able to put into order of who the bear saw first. If the sequencing becomes too easy for the children, then I will have another set of laminated images for the children to use. These images will correspond with the animals in the story, however, they will be real life animals. Sequencing allows the children to recall events that have already occurred. It stimulated the brain and this activity will allow them to use their understanding of memory and
