Hi Peeps,

Today's Quote

"It is important to talk about the stories that matter in your life so that your children's children may benefit from wisdom, with the limited amount of time we have left on this earth." ! Jon Barnes

Of Old

I now see why Bible stories, studies, prayer, and service is so important to learn and share, because they are needed in our daily lives thinking, working, negotiating, and practicing good deeds in our lives. Stop blaming the churches for your personal failure and lack of interest in God. Blame yourself and your pride for walking away from God, like Adam and Eve. Your excuses and explanations are merely lies of old.

We are all called to fill multiple roles during our life. In chapters 5-8 of God at Work, Veith (2002) explains the importance of each of these vocations and how they intermix with each other. In looking at each of these, it is important to note that one vocation does not carry more power than another. Veith explains how God works through us in each of the vocations of worker, family member, citizen, and church member to love and serve our neighbor.…

Of course, the main writer of “The Art of the Deal”, Brian Schwartz, said that if he were to write the book all over again, he’d title it, “The Sociopath”. What? You thought Trump wrote the book?…

The chapter “‘You’ll Never Believe What Happened’ Is Always a Good Place to Start” from the Native Narrative “The Truth About Stories” by Thomas King explores the twisting path of how stories configure who we are, how we interpret, and how we interact with the world around us. Thomas King uses detailed examples in his writing that exceed what he is trying to say. For instance, as a narrator, he tells a story about the moment he discovered what happened to his Father. The narrator's Father left when he was only a little boy, remarried twice, and had seven more children who never knew that the narrator nor his brother existed until the day of all their father's funeral.…

When most people hear the word "church," they may immediately visualize a preacher reading his Bible to his congregation, a study group meeting during Sabbath school, or a group of people getting together to promote a good cause. In Ephesians, a church can be defined as a group of apostles, evangelists, or prophets who has a spiritual purpose of preparing God's people for service until all reach unity in the faith of God (New International Version, Eph. 4:11-13). Since many modern churches focus on their outward appearances, they neglect this responsibility of ministering to those in need and become more ungodly than they ever intended to be. Many people today recognize this issue and leave the church because their spiritual needs are not able…

‘Righteous Girl,’ Laura Jean Anderson took time to talk to me about music, honesty, and the balance of the two. Throughout the interviews I’ve conducted, there was something about Anderson that I felt in the conversation that made our talk seamlessly natural. A very sweet tone welcomed me on the other end of the line- excited and eager to answer any questions. There wasn’t a façade and I didn’t end up with cookie cutter answers. Originally hailing from Olympia, Washington, Laura Jean Anderson still holds on to the element that exists in the northwest, based around grunge, garage rock, the after effect of what Nirvana left behind, intertwined with honesty, and American folk.…

The writing of this entry in pencil was inhibiting me from expressing what I needed, so I hope this form is acceptable. And, also, I’ll try to refrain from treating this like a counselor/patient therapy session, only because some of what I may want to express will come off controversial and I don’t want to offend. The ‘inner turmoil’ I speak of pertains to my faith, beliefs and struggle to grasp religious obligations handed down by religious authorities, as well, as the personal opinions of fellow believers. And, moreover, the institutions of organized religions and conditioning of faith since childhood.…

Many Christians are leaving the church because of what they come across inside the church; they do not understand why they are going to church. Paul says we are predestined (Ephesians 1: 5 NKJV), God chooses us to salvation (2 Thess. 2:13 NKJV), He does not choose us to be lost, and He never condemns men who deserve to be saved (Rom. 9: 22 – 25). God determined ahead of time that all who would be saved would also be adopted into His family as sons, He could have saved us without making us His sons but He chose to do both. As sons of God, we belong to a family, so we are members of the body of Christ, for a church body to function properly; all of its “body parts” need to be present and working.…

Today, the false compromises engineered permissive pastors, self-willed congregations, and politicized church administrators are flagrant perversions of Pauline theology. This middle ground is born out of pastoral trepidation and congregational self-interest at the expense of the un-churched. Through word and action, God calls the worshiping church to embrace Christ 's sacrificial character, to stop genuflecting to congregational sensitivity, and to embrace a praxis of worship that is capable of reaching out to the sensitivities of distant un-churched persons. Clearly, the mission constituency of self-loving, culturally static churches is limited, and therefore, easily exhausted. Pastors have a moral duty to ensure that assemblies worship God as Christ Jesus worships God....in Spirit and in…
