Throughout Merchants of Doubt there are many subjects that are presented. The authors are very clear about how they feel about these topics. Many who read the book either strongly agree with what they believe or strongly disagree, and there are all those in between. One topic that is of interest to many is tobacco smoking and whether it really is harmful for your health. The authors are clear that they believe that smoking tobacco is dangerous and needs to be regulated. As shown there are several reliable sources that agree that tobacco smoking is bad for your health. They also agree that there are regulations and laws that need to be made or have been made in order to help the good of the public. Actions that need to still be made are continue regulations and laws that control how tobacco smoking affects the people who are smoking and those that end up being affected by it. There are still things that everyday citizens can do to help. They can do simple actions, such as helping a friend quit smoking tobacco, or it can be more detailed actions, such as helping to get regulations or laws passed that will make a greater changed for many in the future. While it may not appear that this topic affects many people, beside those that are directly affected by smoking of tobacco, research is finding that many more people are
