Tobacco is the leading preventable cause of diseases, disability and death in United States every year. According to the report of Surgeon General, Atlanta to Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, around 480,000 people were killed in United States due to the use of tobacco and making it a leading preventable cause of death.1 An estimated report of 42.1 million americans2 and around one in every five adults currently smoke cigarettes and among these more than 3000 people under the age of 18 years start smoking their first cigarettes and more than 700 become the regular smokers.3

In 1988, consumers used to spent around $ 59.3 billion on tobacco products, 8 however the consumption been decreased gradually over the decades. The international trade also plays an important role in the tobacco market, among which the European Union and Japan are the largest markets for rich quality U.S tobacco products. Although the consumption has been decreased, the United States continues to be a leading producer of tobacco leaves. In addition to these the tobacco manufacturers, had spent around $8.4 billion on cigarettes advertisements and promotions in the year 20119 and this investment is still continuing to promote both the cigarette and smokeless tobacco products. The tobacco industry also provides an employment for large number of people and the influence of these people on the economy is unclear. If we consider the health perspective, the sudden ban of tobacco products may also have huge withdrawal consequences on the tobacco product consumers.
