The Weimar Republic was the government that control Germany from 1919 to 1923. This government was designed to be the perfect democracy, but it ended having many economic and political problems. All this because of its very significant weaknesses that include ineffective constitution, weak leadership, and the army.
The Weimar Republic was created after the First World War. Right after the Kaiser, William II, was renounced of his power for his failure in the war, the people in charge decided to designed a new government hoping that the Allies will be a little less harsh on a new peaceful German Republic better than the militaristic empire that had governed Germany before. The Germans still voted in favor of this new republic and this was surprising since millions of Germans died during the war, the anger was filling the people’s hearts like the army and Nationalists who were unhappy for their failure, they were facing many economic problems, and the severe treaty that they were about to face. However, this was not the case of Germany since the army was against its own government. And this all happen because they feel betrayed like I mention above. They didn’t like how they abdicated the previous Kaiser, and their decision to accept the Treaty of Versailles terms. Sooner or later this force started to rebel. And without the army support this government was weak and they couldn’t ensure the people’s security. If they couldn’t governed their own army, they wouldn’t be able to govern their own citizens and this huge weaknesses will lead them easy prey for new parties to take over.
