I think that Alexander really deserved the name Alexander the great. Alexander started his journey at the age of 22. In 11 years he had conquered 2,000,000 square miles of land, but it was destroyed 10 years later when he didn’t name a new ruler of it before he died of malaria. 3 ways that I can show that Alexander really was great is Alexander’s empire map, the legend of the helmet, and him defeating Porus.
One way of showing that Alexander really was great is by looking at the map of his empire. His empire reached 2,000,000 square miles. He must have been great if he got his men (who weren’t forced to come along and fight) to walk with him and fight for all of the land that he took over. The Roman empire was just 200,000 square miles larger than Alexanders and it took them decades to get it all and it only took Alexander 11 years. He also named many places on the way. The cities he named weren’t just all clumped together, they were spread out along half of the known world that he conquered. Alexander tried to be as fair as possible between himself, and his men. You can see this because when his men brought him water from the desert they were in, he dumped it out right in front of them. This just shows that he wanted to have to go through what his men had to go through. He also actually went places with his men, he didn’t just sit back and watch it all happen.
