Reasons for government involvement
There are many reasons the Scottish government would be involved in the tourism industry of the country, this is because tourism generates a huge income for the country. The total number of employment in the tourism industry in 2011 was 2.4 million, most of the employment involved as in the food and beverage service industry which employed 458,000 people. Travel and tourism is an industry which relies on its employees, they earn money and pay income tax and national insurance to the government. Services like accommodation, ticketing and leisure include VAT which earns the government more tax.

A public organisation which supports the tourism industry of Scotland. Their role is to providing support, leadership and guidance to businesses to increase the economic benefits of tourism to Scotland. They provide tourism industries with quality assurance schemes which they can take advantage of displaying awards and assuring their standard of service to customers. They help members promote their businesses through its brochures and website. Their aim is to make Scotland the most visited destination.
2. Scottish national heritage is a public support organisation, there work is caring for the natural heritage in Scotland enabling people to learn the importance of the wildlife, habitats, landscape and scenery of Scotland. The SNH work with the government and European commission , and they also work with other organisations like national parks, Scottish rural development programme (SRDP), and the central Scotland green network (CSGN).
