Should every young person perform two years in military service

The reasons I found on why I believe we shouldn’t are as follows: 1.Not everyone would be accepted. 2.There wouldn’t be many civilians. and 3. It would lead to unnecessary killing.

The problem is that they’re all self explanatory. First of all how would I begin?

I believe the U.S shouldn’t make every younger person serve in the military because first all not everyone who enters are able to join anyways. Secondly, there wouldn’t be enough people to run eateries or run factories, farms, etc, because of the lack of civilians running said places. And lastly, if the U.S did have everyone serve, it would just promote unnecessary killing and less people able to have any form of transfusion around the world.

For starters they government wouldn’t let anyone who has any kind physical or mental defect even people who take pills aren’t permitted to join. From what I personally understand the government just don’t want to have to take more time than needed to train their soldiers. Even if everyone does serve the government wouldn’t provide the money or benefits they do now, there would either be too many veterans or too few people that do not need assistance.

Next, there probably not be enough people to; run factories, take care of farms, or run most businesses effectively since most if not all people would be veterans of war. Just think about it, if we all had to go and fight there wouldn’t be anyone who doesn’t have some kind of injury or sickness as a result of the war. Not many people would be able to live the lives they had before going to war, war leaves something far worse than the loss of life, it leaves an everlasting fear in the hearts of it’s victims lives, and that fear can cause even the strong to become

As Debs quotes "They have always taught and trained you to believe it to be your patriotic duty to go to war" meaning the government has taught one as a child to serve your country. As you go along in school one develops this mentality that as a citizen of this country one has to fulfill duties that will help the country like fighting in wars. For example, since the start of school a person is required to pledge allegiance to the flag. Students would get in trouble if they were to refuse pledging to the flag. Similar to the draft if one were to resist it, then they would not be for filling their so call duties as a citizen of the United States.…

This would remove any sense of duty to the situation and would then see it as a lottery to die. As Fitzgerald quotes Dr. Barry Spatz who was a conscientious objector “I think that I, and those like me, are the true patriots, the true dissenters, who tried to stop 50,000 of our generation coming home in bags.” This showed that the war was becoming very unpopular with those at home because of the extremely high body count of the soldiers coming home and the unwillingness of the soldiers to travel 8ooo miles to die in a foreign land for a cause they don’t truly believe in any…

An adversary to anti war, will argue that America’s involvement in the war was an economy booster. Although the war did create jobs, for soldiers and factories workers it equally lead to america's demise. It was not a stable work environment because when the war was over thousands would lose their jobs because there was no longer a need for them. People who once worked in factories to make bullets were no longer needed because the demand for bullets went down. Plus all the men who were deployed to fight were gonna come back and want the jobs they used to have before.…

The legal drinking age for military serving on active duty can vary from around the world. The minimum drinking age in the United States military is twenty-one and in other countries the minimum drinking age is eighteen. Young men and women can join the United States military at eighteen, have the right to vote, are tried as an adult in court, and are considered adults at this age. Therefore, the legal drinking age should be changed to eighteen because they have assumed the rights and responsibilities of an adult.…
