Slumdog Millionaire Analysis

Once again, director, Danny Boyle has combined drama and crime with a pinch of romance and created a British film called Slumdog Millionaire. The film is written by Simon Beaufoy and produced by Christian Colson. The movie is yet another example of rags-to-riches, it is about a Muslim boy named Jamal Malik, who grew up on the streets of Mumbai, India with his older brother Salim Malik, as they lost their mother in an anti-Muslim riot. Jamal and Salim met a little pretty girl of their age called Latika, who also lost her family in terror. Young Jamal fell in love with her, however, his brother Salim did not like her. Jamal, Salim, and Latika were manipulated by a child trafficker called Maman; they were forced to beg on streets by acting as they have lost their arms or eyes. The reason why Jamal managed to answer every question is that he learned every facet of his childhood and stored it in his memory. This made him extremely knowledgeable. If one learns everything that comes across, they can probably answer most of the questions in life, as Jamal did on the show. This film also shows that how two brothers who grew up in the same circumstances, turned out to be different from each other. The elder brother Salim chose to be a gangster to obtain money, whereas Jamal accepted a job of tea server in a call-center. The film shows the profound love of decent boy Jamal for his girl, Latika. The main motivation for Jamal to go on a money-based show was not to win money, but to find his lover. He knew that he can find Latika through this show because it was her favorite show and she would be watching it.
