Opinion #1 Alex may have usually won his battles but he was a man that believed that the ends justify the means. This is thought because he had little regard for casualties for the enemy and for his own men. His main battle formation was a phalanx. This formation has all the men put into a long line usually 3-5 men thick with the flanks 4-8 men thick. Then while keeping formation they charged the enemy. He was originally from Macedonia in Greece but he started to mix cultures as he traveled from town to town he wore Persian garb but took into consideration the Egyptian gods and Indian culture. There was a story that alexander’s royal head band fell off the boat during a voyage a rower jumped off the boat to retrieve it for him and had to swim through the frigid sea. When the man got back to the boat Alex rewarded the man with many riches and clothes. Then later his prophets on the boat told him it was bad luck to have another man wear his band. Later alexander the not-so-great beheaded him. Great men do not behead men who do these
