Does religion interfere with the progression of society or be a toxic factor in itself? This his has been long a topic of philosophical debate, but I have never really sought after the reasons for either sides. I have always answered the question with a quick and steadfast yes, and my argument for the yes is rather quick although I would rather go know more details on the matter. I know religion has caused wars, poverty, and the dehumanization of many minorities of people, but what I really want know is how and in what ways. I know and fully believe religion is a very toxic thing, but the reasoning behind would definitely shed some light into how corrupt and demeaning it can be.
Religion in itself is definite when it comes to having faith, but this does not always seem to be the case with religious people. The followers of religion might not know about the fear that has been instilled in them, but the makers of religion surely do. Fear is one of the best methods to control people because of our inability to face our fears, and that keeps people from questioning it as well. If no one questions what people are trying to get them to follow then they have guaranteed members. The way someone does this is make everything else seem evil and scary other than the answer they have given so no one will deviate from that truth. Even after they seek out the truth and find it, the fear of the consequences that ensue of leaving the religion is still there.
