I thought for a very long period of time about what my topic for this essay should be. I knew for a fact that I wanted it to something that I am passionate about and I realized that the number one issue in politics today that I am most eager to fight for is women’s rights. Women earned the right to obtain the same rights of men on August 18th, 1920. However, even after 95 years, women are still fighting for their rights and equal space in politics and society, especially for the right to have an abortion. Wade, the word "person" does not include the unborn, and a fetus does not have equal status with the mother until the point of viability, or when the fetus can exist outside of the mother 's womb.” A fetus is not a person, and only a person can get murdered, and thus I came to the conclusion that abortion cannot be murder as abortion is a procedure to remove a fetus from the uterus and a fetus is not a person so it is not murder. Another reason why I changed my thought on abortion is because of what my mother told me. She said that if a girl is raped and becomes pregnant, she does not have to deliver that baby if she does not want to. She told me that if a girl becomes pregnant when she is still very young, she does not have to have that baby is she is not ready for it. With my mother saying this, I realized that she was right. My mother opened up my eyes more and made me realize the number of reasons that there are for getting an abortion and making this tremendous life choice. I understood how abortion is not murder and how it saves women from making a terrible decision and ruining their
