Ethos appeals to ethics and comes from both morality and credibility. The use of ethos builds trust and authority. As an informant/writer, Koyczan identifies his audience and in an honest manner, persuades them to believe that the stories he is sharing are morally sound and credible. Children are taught how to act properly. Children are taught what to believe, what to think, how to think, when to stand up, when to eat, when to complete their homework assignments, when to go to the restroom, and so on. Bullying does not occur only between students, but between students and teachers, students and parents, etc. Children are bullied into being what adults want them to be. Koyczan provides examples of this by including the story of himself as a young boy who must undergo cognitive therapy and is bullied by social workers due to incorrect complaints made by his gym
