Shane Koyczan uses a bit of ethos throughout the poem to supportive message by giving examples of how bullying has affected others in a long-term situation such as when he wrote about a loved wife whose husband tells her constantly how beautiful she is but, can’t bring herself to believe it due to kids bullying her when she was in the 3rd grade for having a birthmark on her face. Statements and examples like these throughout the poem gives his claims credibility because it shows the audience that he isn't the only one. In the Ted Talk, the author uses ethos in the same way but, adds a bit more of it in his introduction when he talks about common scenarios that we are all faced with at one point or another. This gives the author credibility because he makes the viewers self-reflect on a time in which they were put in that position and to a certain extent agree. Logos are used in both genre when he uses sarcasm to describe common situation almost like a satire for example when he said “ had the audacity to tell him “get over it” as if depression is something that can be remedied by any of the contents found in a first aid kit”. He uses sarcasm and irony to convey how even though logically it seems silly to even make misconceptions like this but, often we do without realizing it. Throughout a lot of the poem, the reader gets more of a sense that he/she are reading a story more than a poem. The structure of the Ted Talk is a lot more narrative than it is poem like the Ted Talk to a certain extent seems more structured because it gives an introduction and a basic understanding before actually jumping into the poem. The Ted Talk also is structured to be more appealing because of the speaker's tone, the violin playing in the background that gets an increasingly intense pitch as the author's voice races, and also the animation played during the Ted Talk thats visuals flow with what is being said and helps tell more of a
