Test Reflection

While reading the article, “Relax, It’s Only A Test,” I found the point that students often get so anxious about the test or exam that it actually interferes with their working memory, and intern making them struggle on the test very interesting. Although I don’t consider myself an anxious test taker I do relate with the part of the article describing the wrong study method. I do often study by reviewing my notes and textbooks, which helps me become familiar on the topic, but that is not practicing for the testing situation. I love the theatre so when it gave the example of reviewing lines before opening night I was able to connect and realize I may not be using the best study methods for myself.

It emphasized highlighting, which I do a lot of, and how to be careful on the amount of information you mark. It also said writing notes by hand, flash cards, breaking up course study, and sleep were very important. Two new points that I found helpful were using analogies to help recall the information and posting pictures in your workspace to keep an open mind. I love crafting, so the idea of a verse or quote on my desk is a great idea to lighten my mood. I also remember facts and information better if I have something to help make it catchy, so an analogy might help me do …show more content…
I want to make sure that I am successful in these courses and fit in with the campus life here. I have had a lot of experience with speaking to people and the proper way to greet someone. Being an employee of CVS Pharmacy I have found it valuable to base some of my credibility off them or “piggyback”. I don’t want to be seen as someone who believes they are an expert at everything, because I know I am far from it, so I will take the articles advice and consider myself an expert at nothing in order to keep my mind

PADM 302 Course Reflection My primary goals for this course were to improve my writing skills in two specific ways. I wanted to be able to write with greater speed, but with apparent quality, and I wanted to be clearer in my writing. I had two strategies in mind to meet these goals. The first included becoming proficient at writing outlines and frameworks, which, I thought, would help me better adhere to my objectives for the papers I write. The second strategy was to learn methods by which I could become more concise in writing which would enable me to more powerfully present the points I wish to deliver in papers.…

I used to get worried that I would not do well on the tests, before I would get the test, I would get worried that I would forget important facts or that I did not study enough or what I was supposed to study in the first place to be prepared for the test. Now that I have beat the dragon it does not worry me that i will not do good on a test. I still do the same studying before a test, I read the chapter, do the questions at the end of each section, and read my notes over…

My experiences in SCI 195A this semester taught by Ingrid Peterson and Dina Schwartz have been nothing less than extraordinary. Being a first semester freshman at a top university, such as the University of Arizona, is a tremendous culture shock even coming from a nationally ranked college preparatory school as I did. Although college is full of opportunity, it entails legions of work! College certainly includes more responsibility such as time management, test taking strategy, and planning for the future. Each of these values (and more) were passed onto me this semester by Ingrid and Dina.…

Testing students in subjects such as science and social studies is not fair to all students. Since 25%-40% of students get test anxiety, even if they study and know their stuff, they still blank out, freeze up, zone out, or feel so nervous that they cannot write the test. Students who are highly test-anxious score about 12% less than other students who don’t get test anxiety. Equally students don’t always have time to study and memorize everything before a test. Not only…

Students go through a lot of inner trauma during the test phase which ultimately reflects on their score. It has been recorded that “from kindergarten through high school, the causes of childhood stress are numerous. One of the most commonly cited is standardized-test stress, which starts in first-grade in many states” (Wilde). This is the problem, not only is standardized testing causing severe stress on the brightest students, but it also affects the younger generations more drastically, causing some to end up vomiting during the test (ProCon). Not only is severe stress the problem, but also anxiety.…

Strengthening the student toolbox by Dunlosky describes multiple strategies that students can use to learn certain amounts of information that the students have to know in a class and in turn strategies on how teachers can teach their students. All of these strategies are and can be used by students and helped or hindered along by their teachers, some more than others. In my high school years I received multiple instructions to not cram study for a test and to space out studying for it in the days leading up to the test.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
