Harper Lee gives her readers of To Kill A Mockingbird a clear and well formulated idea of social prejudice, how it happens and it's effects throughout the novel. We explore these ideas through the eyes of Scout, a six year old girl growing up in the town of Maycomb where most of its people are racist and discriminatory. In the first chapters of the novel, Scout's views on Boo Radley are merely based on rumours and town gossip. She thought of him as monstrous and almost supernatural being who only comes out at night only to bring terror to people.
