In the northern hemisphere, snow is prevalent. Every winter, snow comes, but to those who have never seen or known snow, well, it can be a huge surprise. When Maycomb, Alabama gets snow for the first time since1885, Scout freaks out and thinks the world is ending. Jem comes along and scolds Scout for wasting the snow. “I stuck my tongue out and caught a fat flake. It burned. “Jem, it’s hot!” “No it ain’t, it’s so cold it burns. Now don’t eat it, Scout, you’re wasting it!’”(Page 73) Since snow was so rare in the South, Jem wanted to save it. But Scout was demystified by it, and instead of unjustly demanding Scout not to eat it, Jem sent her to their neighbor’s house to eat their snow, which cured his snow-eating problem, and saved Scout’s
