Courage Courage is always occurring in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Each of the characters has very unique personalities; the majority of the characteristics is courage. To say one character has more courage than another is very debatable and what I think is very inaccurate. From the beginning of the book to end of part 1 every character has showed signs of courage. To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book showing how people can grow together. We have Scout and Jem growing up together in an innocent childhood growing into adulthood. We have Tom Robinson, an African American man who, is going to court with Atticus Finch (scouts father) and is trying to defend Tom against the harming white community.
