“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 119). This quote is relevant throughout To Kill a Mockingbird because the mockingbird is a symbol that is through the whole book. For example the kids always wanted to go and see him and they shouldn’t because he isn’t harm them. Also he gave Scout a blanket when her and Jem where in front of his house when Mss. Maudie’s house was on fire. He did this to protect the kids and to protect Scout because it was cold out. The gifts are special to the kids because it was someone secret giving the kids gifts for no reason.
