To Kill A Mockingbird Play Review

I went to the To Kill a Mockingbird play with my class on October 24. The whole school walked to the Dock Street Theater during second block. I sat between Chad Harle and Janae. The play followed the plot of the book pretty well, and the actors embodied the characters phenomenally well. After the play finished, we all went back to school and finished our day. Overall it was an educational experience and I really enjoyed the play.
The setup of the stage really impressed me. I loved how they rearranged the stage to change from the neighborhood, to the jail, to the courtroom. However, I felt that the play left out a lot of important aspects from the book. The theater left out all of the language that made the book so meaningful. I guess they wanted

The comical personalities all the characters had helped the audience become more intrigued in the story of this play. From this play, I liked that there was only one actor for each character. It made it easier to understand which character was which. The actors had different costumes, which made it easier to apprehend who was…

On November 22nd , 2015 , I had attended a play “A servant of Two masters” that played downtown Pittsburgh at the O’Reilly theater, the play was directed by Ted Pappas. He had put together a creative and intriguing play, having actors stay spontaneous and interact with the audience, therefore no parts would be found boring nor dry. All the actors had held up their end of their roles quite well, by fully disguising themselves as that character they were suppose to be during the entire play. In the play “A Servant of Two masters” is about a girl Clarice who originally had an arranged marriage but was called off due to her fiancé death, who was Federigo Rasponi of Turin.…

All in all, the play did a tremendous job that represented the book well. Though there were a few mistakes that skewed characters’ personalities. Curley’s wife and Lennie were the major characters that were affected. Many of their actions were changed or even completely left out of the play. There was a scene that added more to the plot than the book, but it wasn’t a significant one.…

Furthermore, the stage setup was utilized well. With the stage in the middle, they had three sides of audience seats that surrounded the stage. I thought this set up made the play more interactive and able to focus on the main character more closely. The lighting for this play was used effectively as well.…

For the scenery, I liked the stage. Since it was circular and moved, it created the ability to have multiple scenes in various locations. I enjoyed the beginning when she was running away, and the level with the trees turned to make it more realistic that she was running through the woods. I did not like the red that was at the bottom of the trees and poking out of the floorboards of the stage. Since it was never mentioned in the play, the red is confusing as real trees do not have red stained trunks.…

This play was one of the longest plays I had ever sat in on, but it didn’t feel like it. The characters and the story kept making me want more. It was that good! This play, however, did provide more than just entertainment. It provided a sense of wonder, wonder about the lives of the characters, what they felt, what they thought, and what they did.…

“Close that curtain, Jessie, I have no wish to regard my garden and examine the destruction caused by that, horrible little boy.” “That’s more appropriate, now where’s my tea, go and fetch it at once!” “Maids, what’s becoming of them, acting as though they are equals to us white folk, it’s simply not allowed!” Crossing my arms I lean back and ponder the situation “It doesn’t help this situation when no one listens to my opinion, sure they believe there’s a difference between themselves and their maids, however they have no idea how alike they appear.” “Finally back Jessie?…

Why is it a sin to kill a mockingbird? In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, a mockingbird symbolizes innocence. According to Atticus, “It is a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Pg 119). Three examples of mockingbirds are, Mayella Ewell, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley.…

The plot differences between the novel and the play To Kill a Mockingbird begins with the fixation of the Radley house not being displayed in expanded detail during the play, as it is in the novel. Furthermore, the play did not refer to the fire that burnt Miss Maudie’s house down. This fire was a significant part of the storyline because it showed that the people in the town are not bad-hearted they are just ignorant to Tom Robinson and his case. Continuing on Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose passes away a few day after the verdict of the Tom Robinson case in the play, but in the book she never lived to see the verdict of the case. Finally, Calpurnia did not take Jem and scout to her African American church in the play, in the novel, this is em…

In my opinion, the play exceeded my expectations. I did not expect the actors to perform in a way that made me believe his or her conflict. The setting was well thought out and complimented the dialogue in a way that made me pay more attention to the conflict. The painting also added to the setting by focusing on the art aspect of the play. I also enjoyed the humor of the play.…

The story I am choosing to dissect and break down is “The monkey’s paw” Now this story stuck out to me more than the others. The idea that if you grasp the monkey’s paw in your right hand and whatever you wished came true just caught my eye. The story was well put together and had many things I personally enjoyed the suspense of the wishes the penalty of wishing and the element of horror. I really enjoyed both the story and the production but, as much as I liked the story and the play there were differences.…

To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book showing how people can grow together. We have Scout and Jem growing up together in an innocent childhood growing into adulthood. We have Tom Robinson, an African American man who, is going to court with Atticus Finch (scouts father) and is trying to defend Tom against the harming white community. Tom Robinson was accused of rape of a white female Mayella. The raping of a white woman by a black man is similar to The Scottsboro Trial in 1933, where 9 black men were falsely accused of raping two white women.…

Movie Review of “To Kill a Mockingbird” A good movie review can be used to either influence you or deter you from watching a movie. Most of us, use internet sites such as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, or even visit a film critic’s website, such as Robert Ebert, to help us decide what movie to watch. A broadcast with comedian and actress, Whoopi Goldberg, from Opposing Viewpoints in Context, was the first source I used for the movie “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Goldberg describes “To Kill a Mockingbird” as the one movie that she can watch “a billion, zillion, gazillion times” (00:00:29-00:00:42).…
