I hope Scout and Jem don’t think less of me for shooting that dog. I clearly put it out of its misery but it was still a living, defenceless animal. Wandering down the quiet streets of this tired town…..A living defenceless animal……like Tom Robinson. Poor Tom, what are his chances? His fate is already decided and the trail hasn’t even started. There’s only so much I can do for him and this town. The people do not understand that this unnecessary hatred of the coloured folk is damaging the town and the children…..MY children.
