Atticus gives an impeccable closing argument showing how innocent Tom is. During Atticus’ closing argument he says, “The state has not produced one iota of medical evidence to the effect that the crime Tom Robinson is charged with ever took place” (Lee. 271) Atticus is showing the jury that Tom is completely innocent. The jury comes into the courtroom and charges Tom as guilty. This shows how much racial prejudice is in this town, Tom is a completely innocent man but is convicted guilty just because of how dark his skin is. When the Ewell’s testimony is juxtapose to Tom Robinson’s the reader can clearly see that Tom is innocent and the Ewells are guilty.
