To Kill A Mockingbird Levels Of Society

The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, tells the story of a young girl named Scout. The Story takes place in a small town called Maycomb. The main character Scout goes on adventures with her brother Jem and her neighbor Dill(in the summer). Other characters in this book that are important are Jem, Atticus, Bob and Mayella Ewell, Calpurnia, Tom Robinson, Heck Tate. The book takes place in 1930. This is when racism is still big and white people are better than black people. The story is also about Atticus (Scouts dad) defending a black man (Tom Robinson) in court. The officers say they were trying to shoot him to wound him because he was running from the cops. They wounded him all right. They said they aimed for his legs but they hit him in the chest. They also shot him 17 times. You don't even have to shoot someone that many times to kill someone. This happened in the prison yard the size of a football field. It happens near the end of the book right after Tom Robinson is found guilty. They did this because they told him to stop running from the police but he kept running and they warned him they were gonna shoot. But instead of shooting after why didn't they just run after him? The people involved in this scene is Tom Robinson, the police officers a little later in this scene Atticus, Jem, Scout , Calpurnia get involved by being the first people to find out he's dead. This scene relates to levels of society because people think if he wa right the cops wouldn't have shot at him and hit him 17 times they'd just run after him. “Tom Robinson is dead he tried running from the cops so they shot him”(Atticus 235). What was going on was Jem and Scout were walking home from the costume contest. When they were walking through a small forest the heard something behind them and thought it was Cecil Jacobs. It was Bob Ewell. Bob went up to them tried tackling them, beating them maybe trying to kill them. Out of nowhere Boo Radley came out, he took Bob Ewell and through him. Bob Ewell knocked Jem out Boo Radley then ran Jem home. Scout was fine but Jem had a broken arm. Heck Tate came to the Finches house and said “Bob Ewell is lying dead on Yonder with a kitchen knife under his ribs”(Heck Tate 264). This happened near the end of the book. Bob Ewell did this we think because Atticus made a fool of him in court and his daughter. People involved are Jem, Scout,Boo Radley, Atticus, Calpurnia, Boo Radley, Heck Tate.
