Atticus Finch is arguably one of the most noble and passionate characters created in English literature. Mr Finch is a lawyer and single father of 2 young children, Jean Louise Finch also known as Scout (8) and Jeremey Atticus Finch also known as Jim (12). He is a favourite of many and a clear example of a truly equitable figure. Atticus is undisputedly one of the most significant character is “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Ideal perhaps but Atticus Finch was not perfect, he still had his flaws and was not a courageous as many make him out to be. Throughout the book Atticus showed his children some of his numerous faces. His courage, his uneasiness and his unconditional respect for all individuals. Atticus had the ability to turn the children’s doubts and transform them into valuable life lessons about being empathetic towards everybody. He taught Jem and Scout that there is much more to a person that just what the naked eye can see. In “To Kill a Mockingbird” he plays a key element in helping the children grow up making the novel a bildungsroman. Despite all of this, arguably the most valuable lesson Atticus taught his children is to believe what they personally think is noble and act out accordingly to it. To not be rendered from acting it out simply because society might look down on it and might just be one step closer to recovering the
