On this day of IMPACT, we were having lunch in Finch and I did a count of all of my mentees. I realized one of them was missing. I didn't immediately react because he had been late before and it was due to him talking to friends. Some time had passed, and I began to worry. My partner had called him several times; as did I. We couldn't find him anywhere and I had to sit back to look at the situation. I made the assumption that he may have gone back to his dorm. I knew I had to tell my mentor coordinator. She said to give him a little more time and then she would tell someone else. A few minutes pass, he casually walked into Finch and the first thing I did was hug him. He had gone to get his swimming trunks; after telling him not to. The thought

In the story, "To Kill a Mockingbird" written by the late, Harper Lee, and also in the film adaption of that book, there were many similarities and differences throughout the two stories. While watching the movie, one can notice these massive differences, such as how the film didn't include Jem reading to Mrs. Dubose daily, how Tom Robinson was actually killed by prison guards as he was trying to escape, and there is much, much more. Although the film had its similarities, it doesn't compare to the amount of differences throughout the adaption. To begin, as written earlier, Jem doesn't ever even get mad, or read to Mrs. Dubose. In fact, she only pops up once in the movie, and that was for about a total of only 10 short seconds.…

On the first day of class, I felt pretty confident about my level of skills as a writer, but little did I know there were a lot of aspects in my writing that could be improved. As time progressed and we learned more about colloquial language and little things I could change in my essays to further advance and improve my writing. Now, I feel even more confident about my writing and know that all of these little changes I can make in my writing create a better flow of ideas and a higher level of formality. I feel that throughout this semester I have been greatly challenged as a writer and have advanced the most that I ever have in writing within such a short period of time. I have put in a lot time and effort into this class in order to create…

Don Brown writes about "To Kill a Mockingbird" and calls it “a sermon on courage as much as anything else”. A passage that shows that Brown’s idea is true is when Atticus is talking to Scout after Jem leaves to apologize to Mrs.Dubose for killing her camellia flowers. Scout doesn't understand why Atticus continues the case when the rest of the residents in Maycomb county insult him for it. Atticus tells her "but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience"(Lee 87).…

To Kill A Mockingbird As a timeless classic, the people expect certain requirements as a basic level of satisfaction. This level of satisfaction is only met when the novel exceeds these requirements, to name a few, having realistic characters, and providing the reader with different interpretations. The only reason why a timeless classic gets that title, is by having relatable characters to the reader’s life. If the reader cannot relate to the characters in daily life, the book is not a timeless classic, because books are supposed to provide a real life scenario. It should also have ambiguity, as without that, the reader is getting all the information from the text, and the reader is not thinking.…

That was really rude, and the teacher just kept rambling on even though she didn’t know the truth. This was the scene where Miss Caroline was talking to Walter Cunningham because he didn’t have a lunch. Since he didn’t have a lunch, Miss Caroline offered to give him a nickel as long as he brought one tomorrow to pay her back.…
