In To Kill a Mockingbird there substantial differences in education and each level in society was educated differently. The families that represent the education levels include the Finches, the Cunninghams, the Ewells, and the Black communities. The amount of education goes from a lot to none. “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” as said by Martin Luther King, Jr. This means that as someone gains knowledge their character will also grow.
The Finches have the best education in Maycomb. The Finches live in a medium class neighborhood with a maid and are part of the middle class of today’s world. They get the equivalent of a private school education. This means that they go to school daily and are taught by educated people. The Finches have had very little life experience. This means they did not have to do manual labor nor chores. They did not have to interact with lower social classes. Their speech is more proper and they use little slang when they speak.
The Cunninghams have the second best education in Maycomb. The Cunninghams live on a farm and can be found in more rural parts of Maycomb. The Cunninghams are part of the farmer population of Maycomb. They get a mix of

The Ewells live in an old slave quarter behind a store and are part of the poor. The Ewells get most of their education from personal experience because they only spend one day at school and don't come back for the rest. This means the Ewells have to do mostly manual labor and chores to survive. The Ewells have many encounters with lower social classes. The Ewells use mostly slang and don't enunciate their words so it is extremely difficult to understand them. An example is “You ain’t sendin’ me home, missus. I was on the verge of leavin’-I done done my time for this year”. This shows that they have been barely
