As I was reading the first chapter, I am predicting the kids will not meet Boo. I think they will not meet Boo because he is locked up. The people in the town have never really seen Boo. Scout says, “People said he existed, but Jem and I had never seen him” (Lee 10). People had seen Boo before but by using the word “existed” it makes Boo seem very distant and hidden. Jem and Scout had never seen him, which is close to not seeing a person for ten or more years. How can a person not be seen for such along time? This is why many people assume Boo is locked up. The townspeople of Maycomb cannot comprehend how someone could not go outside and be social. Another reason why the town members will not see Boo is when he got in trouble in the town, he …show more content…
Miss Stephanie does not see a person, she sees an object that is caused by death. To the people in Maycomb, Boo is not even a person, he is more of a skeleton that does not have any purpose and is not human. For all these reasons, I predict the kids will not meet Boo, because of his scary and way of staying locked up kind of lifestyle. In this journal I will be characterizing the Ewell family. The first personality trait I realized was that the Ewell’s are disgusting. In school, Burris’s teacher realized he had lice. Lice are little bugs that grow and feed on your head and Burris must have had quite a few bugs in his hair for his teacher to point them out. Miss Caroline states, “To get rid of the-er cooties. You see, Burris, the other children might catch them, and you wouldn’t want that, would you” (Lee 35)? Miss Caroline can tell how dirty Burris is by looking at him. She is not used to the Maycomb ways and does not understand how someone could be so dirty. Not only did she want him to go home, she did not want the other kids getting his cooties and by the number he had they could have been spread very

Within this journal, I will be evaluating the themes in To Kill A Mockingbird. To begin, one of the themes displayed in the novel is the coexistence of the innocent and evil. One way the book conveys this is when the evil jury kills an innocent black man, Tom. I say this figuratively because the prison camp actually killed him, but the jury got him there. The jury knew Tom was innocent but back then, blacks were always guilty no matter the situaton.…

Journal 3 I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and I am on page 207. So far this book is about a girl named Scout and her brother Jem as they struggle through life after their father, who is a lawyer, gets a case for a black man accused of rape. The two go through ups and downs as they go to Calpurnia’s church, encounter Mrs. Dubose, and endure their aunt coming to town. A few surprises also lie in wait as Jem and Scout make startling discoveries that their best friend Dill has come to town, and that the whole town is not as accepting of Atticus taking the case as they are. I personally do not believe you need to know any information before reading this novel. Although I may be saying this because the information I needed to know I already knew. You tend to figure out things in this novel pretty quickly. Even though at the beginning of this novel many things happened they all were pretty spaced out you had time to figure out what you needed too. And there are things that happen before the novel that are mentioned that you have to figure out.…

Throughout the book Boo is shown to have nothing but pure intentions and actions, acting for the joy of Scout and Jem. This is proven by the presents being left in the knot of the tree such as twine, gum, coins, figurines etc. He is the victim of the hushed whispers in town and isolation, yet he is still, quite frankly, good. He is a perfect example of someone who is kind and deserves no harm, but still gets…

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee demonstrates that, it is a sin to demonize the innocent proven through Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley. For example, Atticus is a helpful not harmful lawyer but is prosecuted for defending Tom Robinson, a black man. Scout’s cousin Francis hears from his family that Atticus is a, “nigger lover [...] he’s ruinin’ the family” (Lee 110). This proves that towards the beginning of the novel, Atticus’s family judges him for defending a black man.…

A few points in the book made me think that the Finch kids will not meet Boo. One reason is that people said Boo existed but Scout and Jem had never seen him. There are many rumors about Boo Radley and the Scout and Jem believed every one of them. It is hard to believe that Scout and Jem considering that some of the adults in town have never layed eyes on him. One of these rumors was that Boo only came out at night, which makes me think that Scout and Jem wont ever see Boo.…
