To Kill A Mockingbird Chapter Questions And Answers

I have two questions about the mob. I will support my answers by finding it in my book. Why did the mob leave the jail when their goal was to get Tom Robinson? They left because Scout noticed Mr. Cunningham, and she single him out of the mob. Before Atticus tried to ask the mob “‘do you really want to do this?” (Lee 202). Scout started asking him questions as he tried to act like it was not him. Scout started talking about how she knew Walter and how the family came to Atticus for legal affairs. Scout brought up how she goes to school with Walter and brought up the fight and how she invited Walter over for dinner. Scout as she singled out Mr. Cunningham as that was happening the mob started to wonder is this really what we wanted to do are …show more content…
Calpurnia treats Scout and Jem as her own children an example is her bringing them to her church. Another example is Calpurnia calling Scout sweetie and hush baby. Another reason that she is a better mother figure is she will punish the kids as if they were her own. The kids see her as a mother for comfort and scout goes to her when she’s sad. A great way to show this is when Scout goes to Calpurnia for when Jem wont hangout with her because he’s getting older which show’s how Scout see’s her as a mother. Aunt Alexandria is not seen as a mother figure I will prove this from the book. Aunt Alexandria right away tries to show dominance by telling the kids what to do and yelling at them. Scout does not like her because she starts right away telling scout she need’s to start acting like a girl. Aunt Alexandria tries to get Scout to come into the living room when she has the girls over to gossip. Atticus doesn’t like her much around the house either because he tries to take control. An example is aunt Alexandria trying to get Atticus to fire Calpurnia, which may be because she might feel threaten by her because the kids see Calpurnia as a better mother figure. So for what I have showed you in the paragraph a person can conclude that the kids see Calpurnia as a fabulous mother figure compared to there

Essential Questions I find it is important to understand significant historical events that were happening at the time the novel took place because without historical context readers could be confused as to why the protection of a black man is is frowned upon highly in the maycomb community. When a reader understands the history during the time of the novel he or she would understand that this was during the era of the Jim crow laws, and that the black community was segregated and discriminated. An example to further prove this is when during the trial light toned people sat on the first floor in pews or benches, while dark toned people were sitting in the second floor balcony.…
