Michelle did the same. “Where could he even be??”
“Now, time to drown our misery in food, specifically Goldfish crackers.” Michelle moved the already open and overturned box towards us and spilled some out on a napkin. And Plop! Quilliam was poured out right on top. We just froze in shock and awe while Quilliam was sniffing around the table and snacking on a few more Goldfish. “Caitlin, snap out of it!” Michelle said sharply and snapped her fingers in front of me. I blinked a few times. All of a sudden we heard the garage doors slowly open and we looked at each other in horror. “We have to get Quilliam back in his cage before my mom finds out!” she screeched and flailed her arms. I grabbed him up with my gloved hands and Michelle grabbed the hamster ball. We scrambled up the stairs, I opened up the cage and placed Quilliam back inside while Michelle put the hamster ball back into its packaging. As soon as I closed the hedgehog cage we heard the door open.
“Girls?” her mom called. “Coming, Mom!” Michelle yelled back. We raced back down the steps and it was like nothing ever happened. From that one eventful day, I have learned the important lesson of never underestimating a
