Bob Ewell is the worst of them all. He smokes, drinks, beats, rapes, and overall abuses his children, Mayella included. He lives nearest to the black neighborhood in Macomb, near the town dump, which is probably why he hates black people, that they have a better home than he does, seeing that he lives very near the dump, and they live a bit farther away from it. Prison is not always something that can be seen, it is a thing that is close to or impossible to escape. In To Kill a Mockingbird some characters are similar in both appearance and personality but others are complete opposites. Atticus and Bob Ewell appear to be opposites, but are a lot more similar than they first appear. Atticus is seen as a kind and accepting human being, while Bob Ewell is seen a racist, and is villainized by the good people of the town. Some examples of this: they both seem to have strong beliefs, they are the epitomes of their side of society, and they are both willing to do what it takes to prove their point.…
