In this world, when a person doesn’t act or say what agrees with the society, that person is considered different. People don't like what doesn’t fit in their group. Just like a picture shouldn't be put in this group because it doesn't match well with the overall theme. And when the picture doesn't match, we take it out and replace it with an acceptable one. In To Kill a Mockingbird Scout was that person. That person that doesn’t fit in the society. "Don't pay any attention to her, just hold your head high and be a gentleman" (105). Scout wasn’t a typical girl you can find in Maycomb during the 1900’s where slavery is still alive. Because of her tomboyish attitude, she drives Aunt Alexandra crazy. “Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my attire. I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I wore breeches; when I said I could do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn't supposed to be doing things that required pants. Aunt Alexandra's vision of my deportment involved playing with small stoves, tea sets, and wearing the Add-A-Pearl necklace she gave me when I was born; furthermore, I should be a ray of sunshine in my father's lonely life” (83). When Atticus was assigned to Tom to defend him against the rape, he knows very well they’ll lose because Tom is African American. Atticus was standing by with so he feel some protection and hope of winning the case. What Atticus did for Tom, Scout always too want to do that for Atticus. But Atticus was scared that if he’s kids is involved in this mess, he’ll feel sorry. “Jem shook his head. It was a really against another swim team. How the swim relay works is a person swim first and another jumped in when the one before them reaches to the point, if the first person is late, it affects the entire team, and I was that first person. I was so scared that I will bring the team down, make the team a laughing sock. I was scared that if I made one mistake, the team will be disappointed.
