Every person has their own song to sing, just like a mockingbird would. For people, whether it be based upon an emotional experience or a prideful personality, everyone has their theme song. He took a look at himself and realized that he was doing wrong. Atticus seemed to understand that this was happening inside Walter, so he gave Walter trust to be on the jury of the Tom Robinson case. Walter Cunningham ended up being the only one voting for Tom Robinson to be convicted non-guilty because he realized the bigger picture of his life. He most likely saved his status with the Finch family, Calpurnia, and the black people community.
