To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus Courageous

Improved Essays
The three most courageous characters in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee are Atticus, Ms. Calpurnia and Mrs. Dubose. Atticus is brave because he left all he ever knew behind to pursue the unknown. “ … the tradition of living on the land remained unbroken until well into the twentieth century, when my father, Atticus Finch, went to Montgomery to read law …” (Lee 4-5). Back then it was normal for the son (s) to take over the farm or land that their father owned. It was very uncommon to leave and to go to college. Ms. Calpurnia has more courage than a mad-dog. “Calpurnia stared, grabbed us by the shoulders and ran us home” (Lee 123). She brought Scout and Jem to safety and then warned everyone to stay in their houses because there was a mad-dog.
