For as long as there have been opinions, people have been trying to deduce ways to convince others of their viewpoint. Over time, these strategies have been condensed into what is now known as rhetoric, which is defined as the art of effective or persuasive speaking and writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques.
