How does Atticus defending Tom Robinson effect Scout and Jem’s life? Scout and Jem get teased at school, at Ms. Dubose’s, and at Finch’s landing with their cousin. Some people are racist and want the Finches to feel bad about themselves because they believe Negroes are good people. Also in the end, Scout and Jem were targeted by Bob Ewell, and almost died!
