'It isn't fair, it isn't right,' Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her. Her eyes shone with fear and rage and she raced off, her legs and arms flailing in a desperate attempt to escape the mob. "Don't let her escape! This is how it is, she knows that," Mr. Summer's drawled out, clearly trying to keep calm. Bobby, the fastest runner in the village caught up to
Mrs. Hutchinson and with a burst of speed wheeled around in front of her. "Bobby please! Don't hurt me," she wailed her eyes filling with tears. "Oh Ms. Hutchinson, this is our way, you know that," he sneered and threw a rock straight at her abdomen. Suddenly Marley, a sly girl with sleek black hair crept up and chucked a large stone at the back of Ms. Hutchinson's head.

The rocks came flying from all angles, some smooth, others sharp and jagged, they cut and hit leaving nowhere for Ms. Hutchinson to escape to. Her screams were soon becoming whimpers and the whimpers became dimmer and dimmer until there was only silence.

"GOTCHA!" Raleigh screamed delightedly as she caught up to Charlie. "Haha! You're so slow Charlie, hope you've been training, the Viewing is happening tomorrow!" Raleigh singsonged as she pranced away. Charlie sighed, "We all know I'm gonna be one of the losers," he sounded faraway and he plopped down on the grass looking defeated. "Aww come on Char, you'll do fine there's only 10 losers out of the 260 kids competing, odds are you'll do fine,"
Warren tried to sound encouraging but deep down he knew Charlie was probably not going to make it. Charlie faked a smile and said, "Thanks guys, well we should head home to eat food and prepare for tomorrow," he stood up and almost immediately tripped over his own two feet, his gangly legs at an awkward angle. He jumped up and brushed off the leaves taking a deep breath as he carefully maneuvered across the forest

"Slow down Emma!" her sister warned, "you've still got a ways to go, you'll burn up your energy." her sister, Ami anxiously cried out. Emma took it down a notch and let other girls overpass her and she fell into step with her sister. The trees eerily loomed over the forest and the girls called out to one another trying to lighten the mood. Soon however a fork in the road caused some turmoil, friends and families wanted to stay together but the limit kept them pushing forward and soon families and friends were separated. Emma took a left turn, thinking Ami was right behind her, when she turned around to ask what to expect, she was greeted with empty space. All the other girls were a few feet in front of her so she tried to forget about her sister and dashed up, determined to catch up.
Suddenly a large barrier came into view and the girls on the left lane started shrieking as
Britney charged towards it and was fried to a crisp, her awful scream quickly cut short as she lied unmoving, her skin fried, the girls scattered in fright. "WHAT WILL WE DO?!" a young girl screeched. "I don't know, why do they do this?" Emma mumbled, tears filling her eyes. "Will we ever survive?" her voice shook in fear.

Applejack was swept backward from the shock of it, stumbling into the door as Claudia cowered against her. The girl's face clenched into her shoulder, both arms pressing around her waist. Afraid to reach out, afraid the girl might flinch away from her touch, she simply stood there, a passive recipient to the girl's terror, still and silent as dawn in the near-darkness. They were standing so close she could feel her bare knees brush the thin fabric of Claudia's jeans, the girl's breath wisping off the edge of her throat. A cold frission shot up her spine.…
