The starting point of any research is to identify the area of interest and to understand the design that is best suited to answer the question posed, therefore the aim is to focus on the nurse’s knowledge and views on pain management after total knee replacement (TKR), factors will include patient’s views and why they are important to researchers in evaluating the data to improve patient satisfaction. Various databases will be explored to help prepare for the literature review, the databases included in the search was the university electronic library Discover, which will link into Athens allowing me to review various databases which include EBSCO: CINAHL, Medline, Scopus and Inter-nurse the inclusion criteria include quantitative and qualitative research in pain management; nurses approach to pain, knowledge and barriers to post-operative pain including nurse and patient views.
