There are many different things that you need to have a good relationship with your family. One of those things is communication. Communication in a family plays a really huge role so that a family could run smoothly. Communication could help solve every problem which occurs in a family. Whether it’s a misunderstanding or if you made a mistake you need to fix. The only way to fix these problems is talking about it with your family, which my sister could’ve done. Communication also helps with everybody feeling like they have an equal position in the family and that they are each loved the same way, but Charles never took the time to find out the truth. Communication could help solve every family’s problems, and help unify them.

I can relate to this because my sister

In both of the stories,TKAM and A Visit to Grandmother, the families live in different towns but if one family member is away, they still stay in touch with each other. In the story TKAM, Atticus’ daughter, Scout, talks to him about how she is doing in school and how her teacher gets mad at her because Scout knows how to read. In the story A Visit to Grandmother, Charles doesn’t like to talk about his family but he misses them so he makes an excuse to go visit his mother. When he arrives to his mother’s house he tells her why he left her for a long time. His mother and him had a conversation about his situation and talked about why he didn’t tell her this before. These two stories relate to my story because my family and I do get-togethers once in awhile, if we haven’t seen them for a long period of time. For example we haven’t seen my grandma that lives in Mexico for a long time. She recently came from Mexico so we planned out a get-together the day she arrived to welcome her. We took her out to eat and just tell her how has it been and what is new with the house that we have in

    F. Scott Fitzgerald & Willa Cather Vanda Mallo Keiser University Babylon Revisited Charlie Wales is the protagonist of "Babylon Revisited" (Fitzgerald, 1931), a former drunk and self-absorbed party-goer who returns to Paris, the site of his past 1920s decadence, to retrieve his daughter Honoria. Charlie sees his formal life with sober eyes, and is both shocked and appalled by its extravagance. At times he appears to come to terms with his mistakes and its consequences but sometimes it seems as if he misses his old life, not necessarily the heartache, but the exuberance of it, as in the following passage “But it was nice while it lasted. We were a sort of royalty, almost infallible, with a sort of magic around us” (Fitzgerald, 1931,…

Good communication skills is the key to any success since it is a process in which information is exchanged to convey thoughts, objectives, and intentions. In many instances there might not be compliance because people have different values and perspectives in life. Watkins used communication as a tool in which she can comprehend her family’s actions of being so controlling and skeptical towards her. Watkins utilizes a simile to emphasize the importance of how communication is a way “of (sharing) resources”. Through such practice she was able to express to her loved ones the value of an education, helping her parents understand how it provided her “the groundwork for much of (her) thinking, writing, and being”.…

Why You Should Listen We listen every single day, but that doesn 't mean we are hearing everything that is said to us. In Modern Family, the family is like most families where you have embarrassing parents, a father that marries someone that is close to your age, and a son that you disapproves of their choices in life, but you still love them. Selective listening can mess up our relationship with our family when we only hear part of something important they say like “take out the trash”, and later you get into an argument because you only heard some of the conversation and did not do what they asked. This could have all been avoided if you would have been a content-oriented listener. When we listen to our family we should not eavesdrop on them and cause them to feel like we have invaded their privacy.…

Case Study #1: Treva’s Family One of the theories that will help me explain what could be happening in this family is conflict theory. One key concept from the theory that will help me understand the issues is that all people struggle to survive, especially as family members come and go, age, and change. This concept of the theory connects to the family’s needs because the extended family includes members that have been added, that have aged, and that have changed. With this concept, I will be able to look at how order is achieved in this situation now with such changes and how it could be achieved in a more effective manner. A second key concept that from this theory that will help me is that conflict may happen because of imbalance of resources or power in family relationships.…

One of the skills of a healthy family is, communication skills. The communication skills between the members of the two families were extremely different. The Styles family had healthy communication patterns as opposed to the Baker family, who had less healthy communication skills. Furious, continuously provided Tre with advice and life lessons in order to ensure he becomes a responsible adult. For example, Furious advised Tre to always use a condom when participating in sexual intercourse because “any fool with a dick can make a baby, but only a real man can raise his children” (Singleton, 1991).…

We all get by on small talk like, “how was your day,” “did you see the neighbor’s new car,” and “I like your new outfit.” We also communicate by expressing what we want each to do. For example, chores, errands, and other tasks. Any conversation that dives below our surface talk is rare and usually occurs when we are extremely angry or upset with one another. Although my family’s style of communication does not seem to bother anyone else but me, I believe it is weakening my family’s interpersonal communication and that a start to fixing it is to improve our listening…

    A. Summarize any growth or change you experienced as a group. At first, when we had started this course and got together as a “family”, it was very awkward at first, because no one knew each other and it was little difficult stepping into the “shoes” of both a child and motherly/fatherly figures. Yet, as the course progressed and the more we were able to discuss common issues and the aspects of a typical family, it suddenly became much more easier to relate to each other and work together. For example, at the time of our first assignment, where we had to determine what roles we would play in our family, Nadia, Tyler, and myself found it was very odd to consider the fact that Jeremiah and Shelby were our parents and find what level of respect…

    Everchanging Communication

The one thing that bothers me the most about communication is those who don’t; as a kid you most likely happen to pick up your parents traits, mine happened or happens to be stubbornness. At times i’ve thrown fits at my parents and even when they try to help or make things better i avoid communication because that’s just who i am. My mom always says “ I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what 's wrong” to my brothers and when writing this essay it’s seriously come to my attention that her words are really true. The thing i love about communication are those who do express what they feel so others (such as my mother in my case) can help them out or lead them into a right place. Without communication, this world would be an odd place, be careful what you say or feel though because it could always backfire on you but in my case everything worked out alright.…
