The first sport that came to mind when I read this prompt was golf. From the golf ball to the materials used on the high-tech mowers, materials have taken the game to a new level. Just 30 years ago, golfers still used wooden golf clubs until, in 1990, the titanium golf club was introduced. From there, the titanium driver was produced which revolutionized the world of golf.
Titanium has changed golf for the better, making the good players great, and giving average players another thing to blame their game on.
